If your child is active in martial arts like Karate, you must be very proud. You know that it helps build your child’s confidence, self-esteem, discipline and physical and mental flexibility. There are karate sparring gear kids need for their chosen martial arts. They consist of uniforms, mats, kicking shields, protective gears and others. Uniforms should be loose for more flexibility and movement. The mats are used during sparring in cases of fall. Kicking shields are for their sparring practice. Protective gears like shin guards, gloves and mouth guards are also used to protect the more sensitive part of their bodies during sparring.
With all these gears, you should know that your child needs to take care of them as well. Show him or her how to clean their kids sparring gear effectively and safely. How is it done? First, you need to spread the gears after use. Choose an area with open air so that the gears will not develop odors caused by bacteria accumulated during practice. There are disinfectants that are specific for athletic use. Have one and spray some on gears that contain foam. Mouth guards should be cleaned by use of soap, clean water and mouthwash. Uniforms should be washed after use. Do not let them stay longer inside the bag for they are usually soaked with sweat which can cause discoloration and bad odor. Mats should be wiped with towels and disinfectant spray. The towels should also be cleaned. It is necessary that you teach your child how to take care of his or her things. This will help them develop their discipline.
