I've been using OO for a couple years now because its the best I can find for Linux. It's full of features and its relatively easy to use. I love how you can easily create PDFs and save in numerous formats (except docx). The only beef I have with OO is that it can be a bit slow, I think that has to do with the use of the JVM though.

I've been using OpenOffice for years and never have any problem.

portableapps.com have portable version so you can just copy it to flashdisk and plug it to any PC and run it, no need to install again.

I sort of gave up on OO. It's a great idea but they didn't have a native OSX version.

After reading your article I popped over to the site and found that they now do have an OSX version. I'll have to check this out.

I've already sprung for Mac Office but if it works as well, I would definitely recommend Open Office as a viable free solution.

I've used open office 2.4 for about 12 months now and I've had no complaints.... except, the lack of Office 2007 support.

Will definitely be upgrading to version 3.
