It's full of features and its relatively easy to use. I love how you can easily create PDFs and save in numerous formats (except docx). The only beef I have with OO is that it can be a bit slow, I think that has to do with the use of the JVM though. I’ve been using OO for a couple years now because its the best I can find for Linux. It's a great idea but they didn't have a native OSX version. After reading your article I popped over to the site and found that they now do have an OSX version. I'll have to check this out. I've already sprung for Mac Office but if it works as well, I would definitely recommend Open Office as a viable free solution. I sort of gave up on OO.
