The Finnish phone maker Nokia, world leader in mobile communications, announced Monday the launch of its first portable computer, the Booklet 3G. This mini-laptop follows the current trend of netbooks providing a comprehensive tool to surf the Internet at home or traveling.

It is equipped with Intel Atom processor and runs under Microsoft Windows. Its battery stand by up to 12 hours.
In the first netbook, Nokia also has an integrated webcam, a memory card reader, an A-GPS, and embeds the mobile services brand: Nokia Music Store, Ovi Suite, etc.

Nokia should leave the netbooks to the manufacturers that know what they are doing. Apparently the price is rumoured to be around double of the same spec from different manufacturers.

This will be interesting to see how this pans out. The Dell minis have been very popular, so now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. I for one don’t like the small screens, but to each his own!

I have also seen reports that the price tag may be a bit high , but am interested in seeing it and how well it functions. If it is in the same class of the dell mini’s it should make some impact on the market.

Looking forward to the release of this one. Finally a Nokia piece which is not running on Symbian or Java, Pheww..!! Guess Nokia has finally learned that its personal OS’ are simply useless except for being exploited through security holes. Wonder what will be the overall config of the new systems.

It’s very interesting to know that Nokia is launching it first Notbook. Sound very similar that Bajaj is manufacturing Car for Indian market. Will they can understand the requirement of the particular products that’s the different thing.
Looking forward to this upcoming Notebook by Nokia.

If Nokia can improve on Acer’s flagship Aspire One, which also sports a 10 inch screen and Atom processor, I’m all for it. Built in 3G will be nice for a start.

I’m kinda sceptic about it… In my opinion Nokia should stick to smartphones and leave netbooks to its traditional manufacturers. In addition one may say that Nokia already has HUGE competitors in their traditional niche (e.g. Apple, Google), and it’s time to fight for a place under the sun…
